To the Museums, Citizens! is an international conference that brings together 30 national and international speakers to discuss the role of museums in the construction of citizenship, promoting the exchange of experiences, concepts and challenges.

Organized by Museums and Monuments of Portugal, in collaboration with ICOM – International Council of Museums, the largest and most representative organization of museums and museum professionals around the world, this conference is part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.

It summons and puts into perspective the idea that museums are places that invite the participation of communities, spaces open to diversity and freedom. In the year in which we commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution, let us also celebrate museums as liberating agents of the imagination.
